First Impressions

From the moment you walk into the Movenpick, it is obvious that this resort has been thoughtfully designed with families in mind. There is a slide in the lobby (yes, really!), and even stepping stools at the check-in desk so kids can get involved. The warm welcome we received was one of the highlights of our stay - our children were each given a plush turtle toy, which they absolutely adored. A brilliant start to our stay!

Accommodation

The hotel has plenty of family-friendly room types. We opted for a two-room suite, which was ideal for our family of four. The suite was modern, spacious, and well-designed, with two separate toilets and dual access to the bathroom - very handy for minimising late night disturbances. Higher rooms have a sea view, but we chose to forgo paying extra for this. For special occasions, also consider splashing out on a plunge pool suite. There was also an option for a duplex family room, which was suitable for families up to 3 (an additional cot can also be placed in the room). Accor members can sometimes book a second room at half price, and interconnecting rooms are available on request.

Kids Club

The supervised kids club was a big hit with our family. Housed in a large, modern soft play centre, it is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm for children aged 4–12. Our kids had an absolute blast and made lots of friends during our stay. The staff were lovely and really engaged with the children. Guests receive two free hours of childcare per day, with the option to pay a small fee for additional time. There are also optional paid activities such as baking and hair braiding. The only downside was that, unlike some other resorts in Bali (such as the Sofitel Nusa Dua), there is no evening kids’ program or dinner-time childcare. It is, however, possible to arrange a babysitter through the hotel if needed.

Facilities

The pool area is the standout feature of Mövenpick Jimbaran, and one of the biggest draws for families. The lagoon-style pool is enormous, with several zones designed for different ages, including a sandy beach-style section ideal for younger kids, a swim-up bar for parents, a dedicated kids' water play area, and plenty of floating loungers scattered throughout. During the school holidays, the resort also sets up an inflatable water obstacle course, which is a huge hit with older children.

We also loved the private pool cabanas; ours was included with the suite, but they can be rented for the day (booking ahead is essential in high season). The resort’s day spa and well-equipped gym add to the experience, offering parents a chance to relax and recharge while the kids are at the kids’ club.

Dining

Anarasa, the Mövenpick’s main onsite restaurant, offers a wide selection of Indonesian and Western dishes. We found both the service and food quality excellent, though the atmosphere can feel a little lacking in the evenings. For something more grown-up, head to the resort’s rooftop Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar, Adriana Cocina & Bar - an ideal spot for a parent date night. As Accor Plus members, we enjoyed a 30% discount on food throughout our stay, making dining at the resort surprisingly good value for a chain hotel.

Breakfast was impressive, with an extensive buffet providing both Asian and Western cuisines. We particularly enjoyed the omelette and pancake station. There was even a dedicated children’s breakfast corner offering kid-friendly favourites, complete with a TV playing cartoons to keep little ones entertained.

One of the highlights of the trip for our kids was the daily Chocolate Hour (a special feature of Movenpick hotels). It was such a treat: chocolate fondue fountains with fruit, cakes, popcorn, and marshmallows for dipping. Safe to say it became a daily ritual we all looked forward to.

Location

Although the Movenpick isn’t directly on the beachfront, it’s only a short 10–15-minute walk along a paved road to Jimbaran Beach, where you’ll find the town’s famous seafood restaurants. The beach itself is lovely for a stroll or a sunset meal, though it’s not the cleanest for swimming. The resort usually offers a shuttle to the beach, although this was not running at the time we stayed. Right outside the hotel is the Samasta Lifestyle Village, an upmarket complex with restaurants, tourist shops, a Timezone arcade, and an ice cream parlour - perfect for an easy outing with kids when you don’t feel like organising transport.

Final Thoughts

Mövenpick Jimbaran is an excellent choice for a family-friendly holiday in Bali, offering a great balance of resort-style luxury and kid-focused amenities. While it doesn’t sit directly on the beach and isn’t the spot for buzzing nightlife, the resort is distinguished by its exceptional service, spacious family facilities, and a huge amount of entertainment for children. It’s a stress-free, comfortable haven where families can unwind and enjoy a truly relaxing Bali holiday.
